About us

The Institute of Mechatronics Systems (IMS) of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) is one of the leading institutions for applied research and development in mechatronics in Switzerland. IMS works in close operation with industrial partners innovative projects making use of the latest scientific results, proper expertise, significant know-how of the staff and its modern laboratories. The goal of the IMS is to be an institution that is able to bridge the gap between basic research and industries.

What motivates us

As an institution of a university of applied sciences, the Institute of Mechatronic Systems of the ZHAW has been involved for quite a long time in projects dealing with the cooperation of humans and robots in industrial environments. The ECHORD project offers the opportunity to research and test a set scenario together with the Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft Ltd in an earlier feasibility study.
